Third Stone Manufacturing + The Waialua Surf Shop, T&C Surf, Freelance

After graduating from University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Art and triple minors in Business, Global Media Studies (Film), and Entrepreneurship in May 2023, Sophia moved to Oahu the following month and began working as a graphic designer for Third Stone Manufacturing and the Waialua Surf Shop, both located in the Old Waialua Sugar Mill on the North Shore, the surf mecca of the world, a melting pot for craftsmen, surfboard shapers, and artists alike. After 5 years of experience as the lead design intern for the University of Michigan’s Social Media and 6 years as a professional photographer and freelance graphic designer, Sophia now resides on the North Shore working on branding for Third Stone and creating content for The Waialua Surf Shop.

Along with projects in the Mill, Sophia recently began designing clothing for Town and Country Surf Designs, creating posters for local businesses and events on the island, and working hand in hand as assistant artist with legendary filipino tiki carver “Gecko” of Gecko’s South Sea Arts, 30 years in the business. Sophia thrives on working face to face with clients, infusing aloha into her artwork, and uplifting and representing community with her designs.
